Cadet Juan Chuidian y Urbano won the Third Class Oratorial Contest on May 4, 1917. Other competitors: Charles Chapin Terry, Jr., William Arch Irvin, Jr., Lawrence Makepeace Swift, Harry Stanford Vernon, Charles Joseph Ardussi, Herbert Pleet, John Alexander Pool, William Carman Davis. Judges: Howard E. Hannum, Esq., Dr. Harry M. Armitage, Rev. Dr. Edward B. Pollard.

P.M.C. won over La Salle and Drexel and won a faculty game. St. Joseph's College defeated P.M.C. twice.
