"Cadets Attend Launching of New Electric Dredges"
On Tuesday, November 20, 1924, the cadets witnessed the launching of two electric dredges, A. MacKenzie and W.L. Marshall, at the Sun Shipbuilding Company plant. The bugle corps provided music. Sponsors: Miss Margaret U. Taylor, daughter of Brigadier General Harry Taylor; Mrs. Crawford, wife of Major E.W. Crawford of the Engineer Corps. John G. Pew, president of the Sun Shipbuilding Company and PMC trustee, hosted the guests for lunch.
"Cadets Defeat Second City Troop in Fast Game"
The PMC polo team defeated Second City Troop by a score of 10-7. Team: Newton Wyman, Burt, Putt.
"Basketball Men Attend McNichol Funeral"
Riley, Buono, "Gyp" Allen, "Red" Allen, and Elliot attended the funeral of Frank McNichol, former basketball coach. Mrs. McNichol sent a letter of thanks to Lieutenant-Colonel Hyatt.
"Speakers Please at Annual College Oratorical Contest"
The annual College Oratorical Contest was held on November 23, 1924. Speakers: Seymour Johnson Dexter, David E. Kaye, Edgar F. Wainwright, John C. Knoeppel, Richard W. Wilson, Sylvan S. Ochser, William J. Eckles, Bertel N. Peterson. Judges: Professor E.S. Reinhold, A.R. Granger, Captain Henry G. Sweeney. Professor Agan helped the students in preparing.
"Preparatory Team Has Perfect Grid Record"
The preparatory has an unbeaten record; they were also never scored upon. The article recounts the scores of the season's games. Cadet James Wilson coaches, Paul Ache was the captain, and Walter Fetterley acted as manager.
"P.M.C. Beats Juniata in Thrilling Game"
The PMC football team defeated Juniata College by a score of 6-0 on November 24, 1924. Team: Coach Si Pauxtis, Mike Prostovich, Buono, Riley, "Gyp" Allen, "Red" Allen, Kreig, Gaunt, Hughie McCaffery, Magner, Minnick.
"Lew Martin Appointed Basket Ball Coach"
Lew Martin replaces the deceased Frank McNichol as PMC basketball coach. He was an all-American Penn basketball guard. Basketball veterans have returned this season: "Pop" Elliot, Al Buono, "Gyp" Allen, "Reds" Allen, Ellsworth Riley, Balir. New players: Kreig, Wayne Bond, Pohl. Season schedule is given in article.
"P.M.C. vs. Dickinson"
The PMC football lost to Dickinson College by a score of 7-6 on November 17, 1924. Team: Ward, Prostovich, Rupp.
"Corps Dance"
The annual corps dance was held. Receiving committee: Mrs. Frank K. Hyatt, Mrs. Richard Wetherill. Cadet committee: Hafleigh, Brahm, Ward, Blair, Shoyer, Craig, Whitehurst.
"Cadets Win from Service Troop"
The PMC polo team defeated the Philadelphia Service Troop by a score of 19-4 on November 24, 1924. Team: Burt, Wyman, Putt, Brahm, Hafleigh.
"P.M.C. Grad Will Head Important Expedition in Wilds of Yucatan"
Dr. Sylvanus Griswold Morely, class of 1904, will head an expedition to Yucatan, Mexican through the Carnegie Institution of Washington. The archaeologist will study the "new" Maya Empire.
"Indoor Athletics"
William R. Francis will open his classes in indoor athletics. The gym team will prepare for the annual indoor athletic exhibition in March.
"Annual Inspection"
Captain Eugene E. Morrow conducted the Fall inspection on November 15, 1924.
"Thanksgiving at PMC"
The PMC football team defeated St. John's College by a score of 12-6 on Thanksgiving Day, 1924. Team:: Magner, Prostovich, "Gyp" Allen, "Red" Allen.
Presbyterian, Methodist, and Baptist cadets attended a Union Thanksgiving Service at the Third Presbyterian Church under Rev. Dr. Gladstone Holm. Episcopal cadets attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church where Rev. Dr. Francis M. Taitt is pastor.
The annual senior banquet for the winning team had a large alumni presence: James A.G. Campbell, Jr., 1920; John W. Campbell, 1922; Alfred C. Cramp, 1913; Edmund Cramp, 1916; Wayne R. Fullerton, 1921; George A. Lyons, 1921;' Nathan S. Trump, 1921; William D. Boswell, 1922; William J. Crothers, 1920; Paul R. Collier, 1923, Bernard Maguire, former student. Coach Si Pauxtis and Associate Coach Dutch Sommer praised the team's season.
