"Lecture and Forum Series Commence at College"
A lecture and forum series will take place at PMC from January 18-March 8, 1949. The initial January 18, 1949 forum included panelists: Charles C. Townsend, lawyer with Townsend, Elliot, and Munson; Owen Biddle, a firm member; Dr. J. Leslie Ellis, head of the Department of Business Administration, Dale W. Hoover, Assistant Professor of Business Administration. The schedule of topics and panel discussions are given. Speakers might include: Dr. J. Leslie Ellis; Mathews M. Johsnon, Professor of Business Administration and Advisor to Economics Majors; Dean of Admissions Clarence R. Moll; John D. Beatty; Sarah P. Holcroft, Chester High School teacher; Florine DuPuy, Chester High School teacher; Elizabeth Taylor, Media High School faculty; Herbert Rathey, Media High School teacher; Dr. R.W. Kempner, Professor of Political Science and History and former Chief Deputy Prosecutor at the Nurenberg Trials.
"Varsity Club Formed"
The PMC Varsity Club came into existence on January 10, 1949. The club will bond past and present athletes. The club was formed through the efforts of the Administrative and Athletic Departments. Wesley C. Smith, assistant varsity football coach and student PMC sports star, is Club Advisor; Anthony M. Caia is president; Thomas T. Riordan, vice president; Alfred H. Koury, secretary; Robert V. Micocci, treasurer. Eighty-five names are currently on the roster. The goals of the club are listed as well the articles of its constitution.
"Did You Know That-"
Dean Emeritus L.P. Wyman, a PMC staff member for 44 years in various capacities, has written thirty books for young boys including "After Many Years", a Civil War tale about PMC.
"PMC Graduate Promoted To Lieutenant General"
Major General Charles F.B. Price, class of 1902, has been promoted to Lieutenant General. He retired in 1945, yet was elevated on the retired list due to having received a Legion of Merit citation during World War II.

"The Bulletin Board"
The Veteran Student Government Association would like to hold a Copper Beech Ball on March 11, 1949 at the Broadwood Hotel. Dave Stephens will entertain. Mel Korn is involved in planning. Noble Hall spoke at the meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Management meeting on January 18, 1949. Major Albert J. Ryan, class of 1938, addressed the Engineers Club and is the brother of Arthur J. Ryan, PMC Field Representative. Kappa Sigma Kappa is organized and progressing at this stage. Major Cottee is accepting plans for second semester class dances. Bob Valentine is hinting about a Purchase Card Discount Plan coming in the near future. The PMC Chapter of the American Chemical Society is featured in the parent organization's publication, _Chemical and Engineering News_. The group held its meeting on December 4, 1948. At that meeting, Russell C. Erb, head of the chemistry department and faculty sponsor, presented the charter with the assistance of E.H. Cox, secretary fo the Committee on Chemical Education of the American Chemical Society. The Philadelphia Chapter of the American Chemical Society held its annual "Meeting in Miniature" on January 20, 1949. PMC students acted as aides: John F. Boyle, Chairman of the PMC Chapter; Edward Hack; Raymond Dameron; Charles Russ; Michael Ciavolla; Allen McClure. Dr. Joseph J. Storlazzi's Skull and Bones Society is gaining in popularity. Dean B. Arnold announced that _The Dome_ will be published bi-monthly. Professor Arnold's journalism students will contribute. Chaplain Harry T. Rowe invites students to Vesper Services. The Varsity Club has formed, with president Tony Caia. Bob Micocci's car has been the victim of one too many pranks.
"The Basketball Picture"
Woody Ludwig is the coach of the 1948-1949 basketball team who will play in the Southern Division of the Middle Atlantic Conference. Names mentioned: Walt Udovich; Bobby Martz; Al Ingber; Chips Margavage; Fanny Gallagher; Charles Van Sant; Manuel Bosio; Art Lux; Willie Fullerton; Jack Grant; Don Griffith; Bob Marks.
"New PMS&T Assigned to PMC"
The Department of the Army has assigned Colonel W.B. Tuttle to the PMC ROTC Headquarters in January 1949. Tuttle will replace Colonel William A. McCulloch who has served as Professor of Military Science and Tactics at PMC since December 1945. Tuttle and McCulloch's biographies are provided.
"West Chester Football Game Moved to PMC Stadium"
The PMC-West Chester game, usually played at West Chester Stadium, will take place at PMC in 1949. The 1949 football schedule is provided.
"Udovich Honored Again"
Walt Udovich, who was named to the United Press All-American Football Squad in 1948, was named "Outstanding College Basketball Player of the Week" by the Philadelphia Basketball Writers Association on January 17, 1949.
"Birthdays Marked"
J. Ellwood Ludwig celebrated his birthday on January 12; Colonel Clarence T. Starr celebrated on January 20.
"Cadets Hamaty, Melchior Receive Awards"
Cadet Captains Daniel Hamaty and Eugene L. Melchior were awarded Distinguished Military Student Awards by the military department.
"Target for Tonight Mr. Referee"
Philadelphia's Pen and Pencil Club is discussed, where basketball writers and coaches discuss the sport. Names mentioned: Frank O'Hara of the _Philadelphia Inquirer_; Bob Geasey, Temple University Publicity Director; Bill Stetson, coach at Swarthmore College; Eddie Gottlieb, coach of the Philadelphia Warriors.
"Canteen Award"
Bob Williamson, proprietor of the canteen, has sponsored two basketball awards for each game: "Most Outstanding" in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity categories. Varsity members honored thus far: Gallagher; Ingber; Udovich; Margavage; Martz. Junior varsity players honored: Joyce; Griffith; Joyce; Marks.
